I am really on the fence on this. There is just something about the feel and smell of a brand new book, and I enjoy flipping the pages. Of course having to read while standing on the metro isn't much fun. Since you are a huge book reader I would be curious to hear about your experience with your transition.

I downloaded kindle for iphone (it was free) and so far i like it alright but it's kind of small. the font isn't small but the pages are. I guess it's fine if you don't have space to carry a book but i like real pages better.

A friend gave me her eBookwise when she got her Sony. It was also a great way to "get my feet wet". I'm waiting for my Nook to arrive, and have quite a stockpile of ebooks to load when it gets here.

I sort of think it's like the audiobooks I listen to: if the book is a keeper, I'll still probably go back and buy the book for my shelf. Otherwise, at least it's not taking up space.

You can't buy eReaders here :( I have bought myself a multi-purpose device...it's still in it's box (I know, sacriledge), but I'm waiting for the cover (I live in fear of damaging it) before I pull it out and take it for a test drive *grin*

Maybe one day the powers that be will explain why NZ is off the eReader map.

I've had the 505 for 3 years now and still love the hell out of it. I'm with Wendy, I use the Sony Library, although I don't use the auto-sync, anymore.

When I plug the reader in, I just drag whichever book I want from the 'Computer' to the 'Reader', and it just copies it there. I then just move it to whichever Collection it falls into.

The Collection piece is cool because you can organize your books as you please.

LA - I love my shelves too. It's the bags of books that are freaking EVERYWHERE in my house that are making me nuts!

I'm excited/nervous about it. I've been wanting one for ages, and finally decided not to start super fancy (which is my usual inclination), but to get one that I can get my feet wet with. The entire package, including A/C adapter, case, refurbishment plan, tax and the reader was $254, which I think is a totally acceptable amount.

Everyone seems to swear by Calibre - but I haven't taken the plunge there. I've been satisfied using the Sony Library software.

Also - I'm happy to see more publishers offering the EPUB format. The Sony can read PDF, and that was generally how I was reading - but EPUB just flat-out looks nicer.
