Ok everyone, we have a lot to get covered, so let's get started. First, graceful hat tip to
Tom & Lorenzo,
who serve up the fashion (and fabulous gay bitchery) on their site. I
stole all still shots from them. These are in no particular order because
I can't be bothered to sort them by grades like I usually do.
I can't even really talk about this. Perhaps Meryl was headed to a formal rodeo next. Bad, but then nothing she wears really shocks me. She clearly doesn't really give a shit about the Red Carpet, or fashion.
Final grade: D
Given the amazing fashions Mila Kunis wore for her entire press junket for Friends w/Benefits, this dress disappoints. Aesthetically, I guess there's nothing wrong with it. It's just kind of meh to me.
Final grade: C+
Another Lanvin dress. This one also gorgeous. I really like that she repeated the pink/red combo like she did last year. On stage though her makeup was a bit heavy.
Final grade: B
This dress is an unfortunate choice. I get the concept (the back is stunning), but from the front it looks a bit like a pillowcase made of parachute pants. Also, the color isn't doing her any favors.
Final grade: C-
I thought Kidman looked as good as she's ever looked on the Red Carpet. I like her much, much better when she wears color, but this dress was fitted beautifully!
Final grade: B+
The dress is gorgeous. The fake hair, not.
Final grade: C
Octavia Spencer clearly got a new stylist before the awards season, because she's been looking amazing lately. I love this dress. I wish the color had a little more omph, but overall, it's fitted beautifully and very, very flattering.
Final grade: A
Paula Patton grates on my nerves. She has this weird inability to just pose on the Red Carpet. Always with the vamping. I also didn't love this color. I don't like the practically neon shade.
Final grade: D
First of all, Piper Perabo's dress is wearing her. Second, your dress is not a prop, third, it's a horrible color.
Final grade: D-
Reese so rarely missteps on the Red Carpet, but this dress didn't work for me at all. First, it's really tight. Second, I don't like the bodice, which looks like a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. Also, I don't like the hair, which didn't got with the dress. This was a miss for me.
Final grade: D
I feel for Rooney Mara, who clearly was not prepared for the amount of attention her role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has provided. She always looks uncomfortable on the Red Carpet. I liked this dress right down to the hemline, which has a weird ruffle. I wish it had been a straight drop.
Final grade: C+
This dress makes her look short. And a bit like a Solid Gold dancer. Also, I hate, hate, hate the ombre hair. Just PICK A COLOR already!
Final grade: D
I love Sarah Hyland. She's adorable, and tiny. This dress left no impression on me. I wish she'd dress a little younger, I guess.
Final grade: C
I loved this look. Amy and Heather both hated it. I love the pattern, I love the complicated cut of the dress. I don't love the ponytail, and the dye job is a bit much. But overall, I really liked this look.
Final grade: B
I'm on the fence about Sophia Vergara's look. The dress is a gorgeous color, and it certainly showcases her enviable figure. But I find it a bit predictable for her. And I didn't like the super flat ironed hair.
Final grade: B
I thought Stacy Keibler looked lovely. Just right for George's accessory. She dressed not to take anything away from her sidepiece, which was well done.
Final grade: B-
Ah, SWINTON (TM Go Fug Yourself). I do love her. This is a gorgeous color, and the dress itself is very flattering. And she's working it just as hard as she can. I'm in.
Final grade: A-
I was so glad that Tina Fey showed up in a color that I overlooked the ruffles the first time I saw the dress. But the more I look at them, the more I think they're threatening to eat her. This dress is a no for me. Good color though!
Final grade: C+
I think Viola Davis is one gloriously beautiful woman. I love the dress's color on her, which makes her skin glow. I hate the way she's sticking her leg out of the dress though. It's a bit obvious. And I wish she'd worn a lighter shoe.
Final grade: B+

OMG! I would totally kiss you right now if there weren't like 3000+ miles separating us! All the other sites I've checked have HATED on Tilda's and Sarah's outfits - and I rather liked both! Tilda is normally a kooky train-wreck for me, but I LOVED the color and cut of her dress. The hair added just the right amount of "Tilda flavor" to the whole package.
I wasn't wild about the cut of Sarah's dress (the bodice seems ill-fitting to me) but I LOVE the fabric. LOVE IT! That blue is absolutely gorgeous.
Isn't it funny how these ladies have unlimited funds and access to stylists, and many of them still miss the mark?
You didn't mention Zooey Deschanel? I thought her dress was perfect for her...quirky, charming, fun. What did you think?
