Whatcha Reading?

I'm reading Ice Queen by Joey W. Hill.

But I'm looking for book recommendations.

What was the last book you read that you'd really recommend? Tell me why.

Hey Kati - book recommendations huh?

Well I just finished Open by Andre Agassi - Loved it and I'm not even a tennis fan. I found it compelling and even a bit romantic.

Also finished Bound Branded & Brazen by Jaci Burton - 3 interconnecting novellas about 3 sisters and the men that love them. I really enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed Cameron Dane's Loving Caleb - M/M - great characters that stayed with me long after I closed the book.

I'm just now reading Fantasy in Death - J.D. Robb, no explanation necessary. Yes?

I re-read the Amulet of Samarkand. I know. But it's just a great fantasy book about a boy magician and a very naughty Djinn. So entertaining and the Djinn is a hoot.

Anyway. Yeah. THat's the last book I read. I'm about to crack open Tad William's latest. I'm on a fantasy binge.

No Souvenirs by K. A. Mitchell was FANTASTIC. The characters, the story, the emotion was so spot on and fantastic.

Mortal Sins by Eileen Wilks (#6 in the series) - if you haven't already begun the World of Lupi series, it really is great. The world building is great; her characters are very interesting and her take on werewolves is fun. I also love that her protagonists are strong and can stand on their own. That although they are a couple and love each other, they don't stand the BS and will call each other out on it.

If you are in the contemporary romance mood, just finished Shiloh Walker's Broken (like stayed up till 2:00am to finish it) and loved it! Really different than her PNR series (which I don't care for).

If you are into M/M I loved LB Gregg's Catch Me If You Can, not sure if you read it. If so, ignore me:) Another m/m series I was just introduced to was Jordan Castillo Price psy-cop kind of UF.

For sci-fi Gail Carrier's Soulless is supposed to be fantastic. I'm reading this one this weekend, hubs will have to fend for himself.

Okay, don't hate me, but it's not a romance. It's Martina Cole's "FACES". OMG! I'm in the middle of this book and I can't put it down. If I didn't have to work, I'd be on this book full time, flat out, with only bathroom breaks.

It's rough, it's gritty, and there are sections of the book where I actually closed my eyes because of the violence, and then realized, I couldn't read with my eyes shut. Seriously. I'm not one for gore, but this author has CAPTURED my attention. The characters, the plot, the dialogue. It revolves around one boy/man Danny Boy Cardogan his life and what happens to him and those around him. Really, this book is a 'grab your attention' from the first page.

@marisa - OMG! I'm totally waiting for the Agassi book to come out in PB so I can read it by the swimming pool. It just strikes me as poolside reading.

@LBea - I keep wanting to become a fantasy fan, but really, unless that fantasy involves a hot man who loves to vacuum and serve my every need, I struggle.

@Mariana - You know, one of the reviewers at RNTV, Stacey Agdern loves the Wilkes series. I keep meaning to start it, but just haven't gotten to it yet.

@KC - I've been meaning to pick up Shiloh's newest, as I've only heard absolutely rave reviews about it. Plus, Shiloh = COOL!

@Maria - Huh. You know I rarely read non-romance, but it sounds like you're loving this book. Interesting.

Kati - I also read the Agassi book after Miss Marisa ... Yes it's definitely worth the read by the pool.

After I read the book, I checked out all the YouTube videos available on him. He's an interesting guy.

Not sure if you saw my comment yesterday, but it was the excerpt of Joey Hill's Rough Canvas that introduced me to D/s. It was so emotionally intense. And since you're enjoying Joey Hill's Nature of Desire series... *grin*

Oh, and I cried in a movie today. The ending of Mao's Last Dancer!

I really want to read the Agassi book! *mental note* Look for it at the library...

I'm reading Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi's THE TIME OF MY LIFE. Ok, so it's not literary genius, but Patrick Swayze is one of my top men (or was) for Hollywood hero, so this was a no-brainer.

And get this -- it's actually good!

The Adoration of Jenna Fox--short, fast-moving book that really leaves you thinking. And there's a little romance. :)
