Great Declarations of Love: The Movie Version

I love a good romance. Not just one that I read (although goodness knows, a romance novel can make me melt pretty easily), but especially in the movies.

This weekend I watched a couple of movies, both with terrific declarations of love and intent.

First, I watched Jerry Maguire. Which sure, it's become a cliche, but man, I'd love to have a man come into a room and declare to me with no reservations, "You complete me." *swoon* It might be cheesy, but you know, sometimes cheesy works.

Second, Sula mentioned it the other day in her blog, and it made me, of course, yearn to watch it again, so I watched Last of the Mohicans. Who can help but melt, when Hawkeye says to Cora, "I will find you. No matter what, you stay strong, you survive. No matter how long it takes, I will find you." *dies* It's just so romantic.

How 'bout in Pride & Prejudice when Mr. Darcy tells Elizabeth, "You complete me body and soul."

Of course, most men don't talk like that. But man, it would be nice if they did. Later this week we'll talk about declarations of love in romance novels.

But for now, what declarations of love do you like best from the movies?

How about the letter the Captain writes in Persuasion?

Or Mr. Knightley to Emma?

I can think of lots and lots, but no actual quotes. I'm an idjit. :)

Oh I loved this version of P&P. I enjoyed how it ended, though some purists hated it. I'm all for the romantic endings, so I was completely fine with it.

I adored "The Wedding Singer" when Adam Sandler whispers to Drew Barrymore that he's in love with her after singing that silly love song. Gets me everytime.

Or the end of "You've Got Mail" when Meg says to Tom "I was hoping it was you". Sigh...

Just the kiss at the end of "North & South" did me in, I was a total puddle.

I am a complete sap, what can I tell ya.

Well, you covered some good ones. But I agree with Stacy, the kiss at the end of North and South... it was totally worth the wait.

Oh, you've mentioned some of my favorites, particularly Last of the Mohicans. Who wouldn't just swoon on the spot?!

I also love Rob Roy, when Liam Neeson says to Jessica Lange, "Do you know how fine you are to me, Mary MacGregor?" Said with that Scottish brogue, it gets me every time!

I always liked that Jack Nicholson, what movie was it, where he is the wealthy reclusive slightly OCD guy, and he says to that women, "You make me a better person."

Great post! I love that Mohicans quote even better. Maybe I need to watch that movie.

I love the one from Last of the Mohicans. It was on TV yesterday and I melted all over again.

Written in a letter from my first summer love (I was 15. He was 18)..."I love you and not the same way I love my mom or my dog."

Hey, he tried! lol
